What is the distance of the race?The Greenman Marathon is a full marathon distance of 42.2 kilometers (26.2 miles).

What type of terrain can I expect?The course features a mix of gravel trails, woodland paths, canal towpaths, parklands, and some quiet residential roads. Trail shoes are recommended, especially in wet conditions.

Is this a timed race?Yes, the Greenman Marathon is chip-timed, and results will be published online shortly after the race.

Are there any cut-off times?Yes, there is a 6-hour cut-off time, which equates to a pace of around 8:30 per kilometre. This helps ensure safety for all participants and volunteers.

Can I use headphones during the race?Yes, but we recommend using only one earbud so you can hear marshals, other runners, and environmental sounds for your safety.

Is the course marked?Absolutely. The route is well-marked with signage, directional arrows, and marshals stationed at key points.

Will there be mile or kilometre markers?Yes, there will be kilometre markers at every 5k interval along the route.

Will there be toilets along the course?Toilets are available at the start/finish area and at selected points on the course.

Are there water stations on the course?Yes, aid stations are placed approximately every 5–7 km, offering water, energy drinks, and light snacks.

Is there a bag drop facility?Yes, there is a secure bag drop near the start line. Please label your bag with your race number.

Can I collect my race number on the day?Yes, race number collection is open on the morning of the event from 7:30am to 8:30am.

Is there parking nearby?Limited parking is available near the venue. We recommend using public transport, cycling, or arranging to be dropped off if possible.

Where does the race start and finish?The Greenman Marathon starts and finishes at Hackney Marshes, which is easily accessible via public transport.

What is the minimum age to take part?Participants must be 18 years or older on the day of the event.

Can I walk the marathon?Yes! Walkers are welcome, provided they finish within the 6-hour cut-off time.

Can I run with a dog or pushchair?For safety reasons, dogs and strollers are not permitted on the course.
